Our Top Picks: Bahrain Happy Hours

No matter what kind of day you've had, when work is done it's time to unwind and settle into your favourite haunt. You've worked hard and now it's time to play too. There are seriously good promotions and deals going down between 5pm and 8pm most days of the week, so you really have no excuses! From hidden gems to bustling melting pots, there's something for everyone on this list. Here's our top picks of places to help you along to that happy place.

Bushido
Take a samurai-style break from the frenzied working week at one of our favourite locations in the Seef area. The Bushido experience, inspired Japanese mysticism, keeps us coming back for more! It's a classic case of escapism, with the colours and architecture taking us to feudal Japan, while the stunning water features and lush landscaping transport us far away from Bahrain.

We're torn between the outside area with its wooden decks and water views, and the upstairs lounge with its dark woods, dim lights and chic art. But don't worry too much as you can't really go wrong with either choice; the whole venue is a real mash up of Buddhist art, Japanese chivalry and modern 21st century style. The Bushido Happy Hour is from 5pm to 8pm, from Sunday to Thursday, and let's you take advantage of buy one get one free on selected drinks. On Mondays they also have 50% off on selected beverages and free appetisers!

Lanterns Restaurant
While we're definitely a fan of the latest batch of restaurants to open in Bahrain, we also have a serious attachment to the island's long timers. Lanterns has been around for some time, and not too long ago opened a new branch in Adliya. In typical Lanterns style, the decor is done in vibrant colours and features an abundance of Indian pop culture artefacts and a scattering of kiosks. The seating arrangement means there are some great little nooks to tuck yourself away in with friends, and also some larger party options. Unlike the Budaiya branch, Lanterns Adliya has some great outdoor seating options. The garden area is bright and airy, and far away from the road to maintain a serene atmosphere. If you sit in the outside area or main dining area, then you can take advantage of 40% off selected drinks from 3pm to 7pm, while in the bar area it's 40% all day (and night!) long.

CUT by Wolfgang Puck
Another great spot if you find yourself in the Bahrain Bay area. CUT at the Four Seasons Bahrain has only been around for a few months, but has quickly established itself as one of the best restaurants currently on the Bahrain dining scene. The atmosphere is warm and intimate with dark colours and some great wall frescos adding a unique touch. We usually end up at the CUT Bar & Lounge, styled with a touch of the 1920s and featuring a fantastic wood bar and complimented by a walk-in wine and whisky room. Happy Hour at this joint is on Saturdays and Sundays from 5pm to 7pm. For just BD3 you can grab yourself a drink, some delicious snacks and great music. Additionally, they have a great Happy hour menu featuring fresh burrata bruschetta, USDA prime beef sliders, and summer truffle and potato knish.

Camelot Restaurant
The petit chateau on block 338 in Adliya is one of the more iconic restaurants in the area, and their weekly calendar is choc-a-bloc with some pretty interesting offers. While the architecture is definitely an eye catcher, it's only once you get passed the medieval doors that you get a real flavour of for the place; it's just oozing with French chic. Low lit and stylish with giant red shades hung on iron wrought chandeliers, the interior is both classy while having some personal style. Half the fun of Camelot is finding your way around this castle; a warren of stairs, arches and tunnels lead you to several areas, including a cigar lounge, a glassed-in upstairs terrace, several main dining rooms and one of our bars in Bahrain. The bar area is a mixture of wine cellar and medieval drinking hall. You can hit up their Happy Hour any day of the week from 5pm to 7pm and take advantage of 50% off selected beverages.

Txoko
Located at the very top of the Domain Hotel, this place is the definition of a sky bar. It has a Spanish theme that is reflected in its drink selection; the sangria is delicious and their mixologist seems to have traded his soul for the ability to work some serious magic via the scientific molecular concoctions. The DJ has some great tunes and the vibe is playful, hip and cool. Txoko currently has two happy hours during the week. On Mondays you can get two for one from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, and on Saturdays it’s 50% off on selected beverages from 6pm to 9pm.

Typhoon Lounge
This place is where it's at if you want to enjoy the cool season and sit outside amongst some greenery. Located at the back of the Gulf Hotel, Typhoon lounge has some of Bahrain's swankiest bar food. The indoor decor is quite contemporary and makes a pleasant spot to enjoy a drink while the live band strums a few tunes. But it isn't until the weather gets a get cooler that Typhoon really comes into its element; with some great water features, lush greenery and even a koi carp pond it really is hard to beat.
Serving a good mix of inventive cocktails and classic drinks made by their professional mixologists, we're sure you'll find something to suit your tastebuds. Their happy hour is everyday, and lets you grab a 50% discount on selected drinks from 5pm to 7pm.

Blue Moon Lounge
If we had to choose a regular haunt for after work, this would be it. Located on the 50th floor of the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay, this Moroccan themed lounge is pretty lavish. If you get there relatively early you get to enjoy the spectacular sunset views, and if you miss it there's always the Bahrain skyline extending off into the twilight. An inventive bar snacks menu will keep you on your toes as you trawl through their Asian inspired dishes, and there is a wide selection of custom crafted cocktails and classic beverages to keep you merry. Our favourite feature is the stylish onyx bar, which makes us feel pretty 007 as we sip on a martini while unwinding in the glory that is the great city views through floor-to-ceiling windows. Running Mondays and Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm, you can grab one of their delicious cocktails from the happy hour menu and also a choice of light bites for BD5.
